History
- Denmark is the smallest country of all Scandinavian countries. From 1800
BC to 500 BC Sweden saw Bronze Age. In 500 BC Iron Age replaced the Bronze
Age. Then came the Viking Era from AD 793. King Sweyn II who divided Denmark
into eight domestic dioceses was overthrown by Valdemar I who reunited the
country. In 1830s Denmark was awakened to cultural reforms.This time gave
rise to many prominent figures and is considered as the Golden Age.
Government
& Politics - Denmark has a constitutional monarchy with a single
chamber parliamentary system.Denmark's parliament is also called Folketing.
Cabinet ministers assist Prime Minister to lead the government. The minimum
voting age is 18 yrs.The elections are held atleast once every four years.
It has mainly two largest parties The Socialdemokratiet and Venstre.
Foreign
Exchange / Currency - Danish Krone is the national currency divided into
100 ore, 50 ore, 25 ore. Notes come in denomination of 50, 100, 200, 500 and
1000 kroner.US$ is widely accepted currency in Denmark. All major banks
accept common travelers cheques and post offices exchanges foreign
currency.
Population
- Denmark's estimated population is around 5.3 million with 70% population
residing in urban areas. Copenhagen has a population of 1,785,000 residents,
Arhus with 260,000, Odense - 185,000, and Aalborg with 154,000
residents.These are the four largest cities of Denmark.
Religion
- People of Denmark enjoys freedom of religion. More than 90% population
belongs to Danish People's Church or Folkekirken. Others are Catholics,
Anglicans and Jews.
Language
- The national language of Denmark is Danish. It is easy to get around
Denmark with English as most Danes speak it. German is another language,
which is widely spoken in Denmark.

The residents of USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand do not need a visa
to enter Denmark but they require a valid passport for a stay, which is less

India.
Climate
- The average temperature in March is around 2.1 degree C and in May is 10.8
degree C, In July and August its 15.6 degree Cand 9.1 degree C in October
and 1.6 degree C in December.
